In order to keep the peace, and never again allow the atrocities that took place during the war it was decided by the androids that they would have to have zero tolerance for crime. The war killed 3 billion people, the android government killed a billion more during their take over. Entire continents were decimated, with only their refugees surviving. The zero tolerance policy took hold almost immediately, and with no prisons all crimes were punished with a death sentence. Eventually things settled down and the death sentence was replaced with a life sentence. Once the prisons were getting a bit crowded and people were starting to escape a new alternative was found. The andriods found an island that had been hidden until recent geological events took place. The island was named the Gallows, and turned into a prison. All the prisoners in prisons were transported to the Gallows. Its been a year since the Gallows was opened but only 6% of the first prisoners are still alive. The andriods continue to enforce their zero tolerance policy and continue to use the gallows as their only punishment. |
