❝Welcome to my store.❞
Although it took much persuasion, you were able to withdraw some money from your bank account. The android, Helen, had given you a hard time, but you were able to to convince her that taking a few hundred dollars wouldn't hurt anyone. After all, it was from your own bank account. You had earned the money, and damn it, you were going to spend it. But, on what exactly?
You learned from Helen that there were two other androids on the island. One was in charge of the census while the other ran a store by the shore. Following the android's instructions, you walked down the shoreline of the Eastern Beach. After several miles of tedious walking, you spot a large warehouse just meters away. You conclude that this is the store and carefully approach the building, keeping an eye out for others. Ambushes were common, and you had no intention of getting caught up in one.
Upon reaching the door, you hesitantly open it. A musty, stale smell assault your nostrils and you cough. It takes you several minutes, but your lungs are soon adjusted to the stale air. You glance around the room and your eyes widen as you see all sorts of supplies stacked in aisles that seem to stretch on forever. This is paradise, you think to yourself. But, before you can even reach out to examine an object, a masculine voice coughs, interrupting your thoughts.
You turn to the direction of the sound and find an attractive young man off to the side, his messy blonde hair unkempt. He appears to be of no more than twenty-five and has a lean yet muscular build. At first glance, the man appears to be completely normal, save for the bolts at the base of his neck. Well, that, and the fact that the android wore a shirt that said "Honey and Jade". You briefly contemplate the meaning of it, but are unable to come up with any sort of explanation for this. You merely shrug it off. The blonde is hunched over, looking at various papers sprawled across a mahogany wood deck. At a corner of said desk, you see a picture frame containing a photo of the man and five other people; you recognize one silhouette to be than of a man's - the rest are girls. You stare at the blonde man uneasily. At once, you notice his hands twirling around a gun as if it were some toy.
The blonde mumbled a few words about an inventory, and you realize at once that he must be the shop owner, one of the androids that Helen had mentioned. You hold your hands in the air as a sign of surrender, wary of the weapon in the man's hands. Without even looking up from his papers, the man speaks in an eerily calm manner.
"I see you've come to my store - the name's Jade by the way," he mused. "I suppose you've interested in some of the things I have for sale?"
"Yes," you reply simply.
"Well then, look around, feel free to buy whatever you like," the blonde continues, gun still in hand. "But if you so much as to think about stealing any of my merchandise, I'll be sure to blast your head off. Is that clear?"
"Yes," you repeat again. "What type of items do you have for sale?"
The man juts out a thumb towards the back of the door. You turn and see that there is an inventory paper that includes all the items in the store as well as their prices. You look over it thoroughly, looking for any deals that strike your eye.
"I'd like to buy these," you say, pointing to several items on the list.
(Fill out this form and make a new thread for it with your character's name as the subject. Then, PM a staff member to take care of the transition. It's easy as one, two, three!)
Jade rings up the purchase and you give him the correct amount of money. He slips you a receipt and then returns to his desk. You raise an eyebrow at him, wondering where your purchases are.
"Eh, where's my stuff?" you ask him, suspicion evident in your tone. You hope that you hadn't been scammed.
"Your items will arrive to you in silver packages," he explains. "This place doubles as a storage room and store. You buy your items here and then I wrap the package and send it to you. I don't know why I can't just hand it to you - it's just the rules."
You blink, slowly nodding as you understand.
"How will you find me then?" you ask.
"Oh, we have our ways," Jade says, a sly smile appearing on his face. "Let's leave it at that."
You stare at him, and after several moments of contemplation, you accept his answer and head towards the door again. As you pass through the threshold of the door and close it behind you, you hear Jade's voice one last time.
